Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ season 3 gets a trailer
Netflix has finally released the trailer of its popular royal drama The Crown. As reported earlier, this new season will feature a completely new cast which includes Olivia Colman (Queen Elizabeth II), Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret), Tobias Menzies (Prince Philip), Josh O’Connor (Prince Charles), and Erin Doherty (Princess Anne), and Emma Corrin (Princess Diana) as the show is taking a forward time jump.
It is clear from the trailer that season 3 will take us in the era of ’64-’70. The trailer starts with an announcement from a reporter and we come to know that 25 years have passed since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation but the present situation of England is not looking well. It happens to mention that, “The country is bankrupt and national security is in tatters.” It is very clear that a political change is coming which will pressure the monarch. We also see Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles who is in his 20’s and an increasing distance between him and the royal family.
There was also a spark of growing competition between the Queen and her sister Princess Margaret, as we know these two have had a stressful relationship. It is clear that this season will shape the second half of the 20th century for England. Tobias Menzies revealed to RadioTimes that the series will include an episode on the Apollo 11 moon landing, and how Prince Philip reacted to the momentous event in history. Speaking at the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival 2019, producer Suzanne Mackie said that the new season would also see the introduction of Charles’ second wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. The season may also cover the decolonization of Africa and the Caribbean.
Netflix has revealed that the new season will arrive on November 17. Until then we will keep bringing you news as and when we come across them.
