Netflix’s ‘You’ is returning with it’s season 2
The popular Netflix series You, which premiered in September 2018, is coming back with its second season.
Based on the novel of the same title by Caroline Kepnes, the series follows Joe (Penn Badgley), a seemingly charming bookseller, stalker and a sociopath. Joe gets obsessed with Beck, an NYU grad student and aspiring writer, who thinks Joe is all things perfect.
Although Badgley is set to return in season 2, the majority of the cast is likely to be new. The next season will be set in LA, with brand new actors.
Speaking about the plot for season two, showrunner Gamble told The Hollywood Reporter: “If you look at every act of violence that he [Joe] does in season one, that is potentially something that could come back and bite him.”
Gamble added: “Part of the fun of continuing the story is that the loose ends from Joe’s past are still dangling and could come back to him at anytime. He is very worried about the fact that Peach Salinger’s family has hired people to investigate her alleged suicide, and there is evidence potentially still at her house from season one.”
Speaking to ET about the upcoming season, Penn Badgley said: “There are some things I’ve done with prosthetic bodies in this [new] season that was kind of nauseating as I did them, I will say that.”
There’s no fixed date yet, but according to the show’s Instagram page – the second season is ‘coming soon’ — so it can be expected to return in 2019. Shooting was to begin in February 2019, which showrunner Sera Gamble confirmed in an interview with NME.
