‘Sacred Games’ season 2 release may have been delayed: Report
Last month a promo was released to get the hype up and it was lauded by everyone. As per a report, “Saif and Nawaz starrer Sacred Games 2 was about to release on June 28. However, due to another show, it got postponed to August. The makers wanted a considerable gap between two hit series and hence, Saif and Nawaz’s show might have been pushed to August end. Also, there is a date issue with Saif and Nawaz being tied up in different projects. While Saif is shooting for his home production Jawani Janeman in London. Nawaz allotted bulk dates to his brother’s directorial venture Bole Chudiyan.”
Now it is quite clear that the ‘another show’ here is Leila. And it is also clear that Netflix wants to give Leila a fairground to perform well. Leila is a story based in future, where purity is law, this is the story of one woman standing up to resist the nightmare. The only thing driving her to go through the depths of hell is her daughter, Leila.
The first season of Sacred Games released in 2018 which was based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel of the same name. This is the first Netflix original series made in India, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, who produced it under their banner Phantom Films. The novel was adapted by Varun Grover, Smita Singh and Vasant Nath. Kelly Luegenbiehl, Erik Barmack and Motwane served as the executive producers.
Speaking about what will see in the new season Nawazuddin Siddiqui told Mid-Day: “Even if people know Ganesh Gaitonde, they won’t know what to expect from him. We shot extensively across Mombasa (Kenya), Cape Town and Johannesburg.” Pankaj Tripathi added: “As an actor, I can’t talk in detail about the show. I’ve been asked not to. But yes, I can definitely say that the scale of the show is huge this time. The writing is fantastic and the show will be very interesting.”
